Flashlights maintenance part 1

1. Avoid keeping the flashlight in direct contact with sunlight, water, chemicals, and corrosive gases for a prolonged time to minimize the damage to the protective layer of the flashlight.

2. Give a thorough wipe to its surface with Vaseline oil at least 2-3 times a year to ensure the "0" ring and the threads rotate smoothly.

3. Never opt for unnecessary high voltage, and the voltage should not exceed 4.2V

4. Do not try to reverse the battery's positive pole, positioned forward, or it will flare up the board.

5. Observe to notice a drastic temperature change of the flashlight, and control it timely for proper heat dispersion.

Flashlights maintenance part 2

1. Do not open the circuit board in the absence of prior professional knowledge.

2. Lithium battery characteristics: there is a significant contrast in the charging technique for lithium batteries and mobile phone batteries. The former possesses no memory and thus, can be charged at any time. So, avoid its overcharge and over-discharge.

3. Go for a charger that offers anti-overcharge, anti-reverse connection, and anti-short circuit properties.

4. To maintain battery health and performance, a battery unused for a long time should be charged fully before storing. Also, recharged and discharged after three months intervals.

Troubleshooting

1. Check the battery: beginning with charging the battery aptly, proceed and install the battery following the correct direction. Avoid simultaneous use of various brands of batteries, and do not mix old and new batteries.

2. Check the tail cover: ensure that the switch is secure enough and in good contact. Also, pay heed that the copper column of the tail cover is within a decent reach of the metal sheet of the tail cover pressure ring.

3. Observe and see if the lamp head is loose-fitted mistakenly.

How does proper or improper charging or storage impact the life of rechargeable batteries?

Get to know some handy tips on the best way to store, handle and care for your rechargeable batteries, whether at home, work, or play.

Rechargeable Battery Do’s

Dos

DO follow the manufacturer’s directions carefully for battery storage and care, and avoid overcharging the batteries as it can kill its performance.

DO charge the battery at room temperature (68°F to 72°F) for extending the battery life. Batteries tend to turn warm during charging and use, and this is not something worrisome. The built and design of most batteries provide them protection against over-heating.

DO remember to recharge your battery for a few hours before you finally make it into use. Rechargeable batteries lose some of their charging percentages with each passing day when you leave them off the charger.

DO keep battery contact surfaces clean by gently rubbing with a clean pencil eraser, cloth, or rubbing alcohol. Dirty contact points are a primary cause of charging challenges.

DO use only the chargers designed for your type of battery. If you are unsure about compatibility, contact the product manufacturer.

Rechargeable Battery Don’ts

Don'ts

DON’T leave your rechargeable batteries discharged or unused for a long time. It is necessary to charge them after every 6-9 months to extend their service life.

DON’T recharge a battery unless it has a specific marking that says “rechargeable.” Attempting to recharge a primary (non-rechargeable) battery could result in leakage or rupture.

DON’T try to recharge the batteries with chargers that are not meant for the specific battery type.
